Solara Morar - Founder/Director

I remember my first trip overseas. I was six years old and went with my parents to Mexico to help build a home for a family.  I remember seeing and experiencing poverty for the first time and noticing little things that would impact and shape the direction of my life forever. I remember asking questions and wondering why I had shoes and they didn't. Why did all of the dogs have so many bones showing? Why did all seven children share one bed? Why was dirt on the floor instead of carpet? Why was the eldest 10-year-old looking after all of the siblings? Where was their mother? Why are we going home when they still need help?

Why are we going home when they still need help? After several years and several trips later to various impoverished countries, that question long ago is still the question that drives me to this day and the reason I started Help Haiti 180.

My heart is for the homeless children who suffer extreme conditions on the street. They clean cars in moving traffic for spare change but are often not paid and are badly abused. My vision is to build a school, clinic, church, and atmostphere for them to thrive! Please consider partnering with us to make this vision a reality!

I work in one of the most dangerous tent cities in Haiti. I have started feeding programs and Bible studies for children and adults. It is my goal to build a school and educate children in the poorest areas of Haiti.

I was born in one of the lowest-class cities in Haiti. After the earthquake, my family and I lived in a tent city for four years. In 2012 I became a Christian and got baptized.  Since then, the Lord has been teaching me a lot and I’ve been able to serve in different kinds of ministries. The Lord made it clear to me to reach out to the lowest and poorest children of Haiti. The ones that are abandoned and on the streets. The ones with no hope, no education and no Jesus. This is why I’m so excited to be involved with Help Haiti 180 since we are focusing on the forgotten children of the streets. The scripture says “blessed are those who consider the poor, for the Lord will deliver him in times of trouble.” I want to thank you for being involved with HH180!

Having two daughters of my own, my heart pounds and breaks when I see orphans without father or mother who are longing for affection and attention. They are in a very sensitive and delicate category. When I go to the provincial cities where they have needs such as food, clothing, etc. it truly hurts my heart.  I long to see them surrounded by a family and become the hope for Haiti. Our country is so poor and lacks opportunity and this is why I am happy to help create jobs for parents with HH180. The phenomenon of abandoned children has been in Haiti for several years, but with the earthquake on January 12, 2010, the number of abandoned and displaced children has grown even more. Orphanages are seeing an unprecedented number of children that are separated from their parents. This situation raises the attention of both Haitians and foreigners abroad. We need our dream and vision to become a reality. We want to prevent children from becoming orphans and also see true orphans find a loving family and become great men and women who can contribute to society.
