Help Haiti 180 was founded by Solara Morar who first visited Haiti in 2011 after the earthquake. After several trips and years later, she teamed up with Haitian Pastors and local leaders to start programs that would help families become self-sustainable. Their heart is to focus on orphan prevention since 80% of children living in Haiti's orphanages have at least one living parent. Due to poverty, these parents simply cannot afford to keep their children at home. By creating programs and small businesses such as chicken farming, agriculture, and jewelry making, these at-risk parents are able to sustain themselves, provide for their family, and gain dignity through employment!
